The Danish Chamber Orchestra and Adam Fischer are among the three finalists in the category Symphonic Music  for an International Classical Music Award (ICMA) 2020 for their recording of Beethoven Complete Symphonies (Naxos). 19 independent music journalists from 14 countries have chosen 320 candidates for the prestigious award, which is presented in 16 categories. The winners will be announced in January. In 2015 the Danish Chamber Orchestra already won an ICMA for their recording of all Mozart Symphonies. Their Beethoven CD was published in the spring of 2019 and has received outstanding reviews from international music critics.

"With this gripping Beethoven cycle, Fischer has become the first conductor to record the complete symphonies of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. This is no garden variety act of completionism — he drives his Copenhagen-based band with a fierce meticulousness that rivals Karajan, Kleiber, and other greats."

“The strings are on fire, the timpani are athletes. This is as live and alert as any Beethoven symphonies I have heard”

(BBC3, Kate Molleson)

"My #BeethovenOdyssey has so far covered 134 conductors and 1098 symphonies across 730 hours. This cycle has enthralled, surprised and delighted me as much as anything I've heard."

"I'm confident that even if you know these symphonies extremely well and already have several recordings, you'll still find plenty here to enthral, delight, and beguile you."

(Presto Classical, James Longstaffe)

"These renditions showcase Beethoven’s revolutionary side in a way few other sets even come close to managing."

(Fanfare Magazine, Mark Medwin)
